For more than two decades, Take Stock in Children of Manatee County has provided promising students facing adversity with a pathway to success. In a community where 63% of students are at or below the poverty level, Take Stock strives to provide these students with a chance for a brighter future. Upon joining our program, students receive not only a scholarship for post-secondary education but also personalized mentoring and ongoing support from a College Success Coach. These resources ensure that each student is equipped to succeed in college and beyond.

Take Stock in Children of Manatee County is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering at-risk students through mentorship and post-secondary scholarships. Our approach is personalized, helping each student unlock their potential and achieve their educational and career goals.

Funding and Results

Through partnerships with local businesses and philanthropic donors, 93% of our funding directly supports student scholarships. This has helped us achieve a 97% graduation rate. Many of our scholars go on to become leaders at their colleges. This year, we plan to expand our scholar admissions by 100 students, providing more deserving young people with the opportunity to pursue higher education.

Beyond Scholarships

In addition to post-secondary scholarships, we offer students access to vital services such as mental health support, ensuring they have the emotional tools they need to thrive in college. When funding permits, we also provide housing and meal plan scholarships to further reduce financial barriers. Our students also benefit from monthly workshops on topics like stress management, college prep assessments, job searching skills, and more. Through community partnerships, we provide opportunities for internships, volunteering, and job placements.
