Volunteering

Bishop Museum of Science and Nature Volunteering

The Bishop Museum is one of Manatee County’s most prominent experiences. See below to learn how you can volunteer and join the Bishop family! If you need any assistance with the application, feel free to reach out to your College Success Coach.

At The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature, volunteers play an integral role in helping the staff and board achieve our mission “to engage and inspire learners of all ages; we protect, interpret and communicate scientific and cultural knowledge of Florida, the world, and our universe.”

You will work with great volunteers and staff as you develop your knowledge of Florida’s natural and cultural history, the environment, manatee conservation and care and our universe while making a real difference in our community and in the lives of our visitors. Volunteer benefits include 10% off Museum store purchases and the ability to earn free passes to the Museum. Volunteers who work 50 hours or more per year also receive a 50% discount on membership in the Discovery Society.

We encourage you to explore the many volunteer opportunities at The Bishop, and to discover ways you can share your knowledge and love of learning with our visitors. Using the links below, view a list of our current volunteer opportunities and find the online application. Current volunteers may log in to the Volunteer Portal to check your schedule, sign up for open shifts, and more.

Please contact Program Coordinator Susan McCarthy at 941-746-4131, ext. 113, or SMcCarthy@BishopScience.org with any questions about volunteering at The Bishop.
