Alumni Spotlight: Kiarra Louis
Kiarra Louis is one of our exceptional grads from the class of 2018 at Southeast High School. She originally came into the program in the 7th grade after moving through our application and interview process- knowing she could then afford college but still unsure of the impact that it would have in her life overall.
After being told she would have a mentor, she was a bit hesitant about the connection, being a reserved person typically. She also did not understand the value of having a mentor- that is until she met Devon Davis.
Devon’s patience and encouragement were instrumental to Kiarra getting out of her shell and reaching her potential. She has remained a strong advocate in her Take Stock journey and beyond, continuing to support Kiarra through college and helping her to discover what she would eventually complete her college degree in at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee. To this day, she remains friends with Devon!
Kiarra is now a college graduate with the class of 2021! From her impressive high school career including membership in the National Honor Society, Yearbook Club, and Healthy Teen Coalition; to leaving USF- SM with a degree in Professional Technical Communication-Kiarra remains a fantastic representation of Take Stock in Children of Manatee County’s mission.
